Ready, Set, Shop Event Weekend Merchandise With the runDisney Virtual Queue!

What runDisney race weekend would be complete without bringing home commemorative merchandise to celebrate your accomplishments? We’re bringing the magic of virtual queues to runDisney race participants looking to purchase official event weekend merchandise on the first day of the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo. Now you’ll be able to spend more time enjoying your Expo experience and visiting with Expo vendors, all while waiting in line for merchandise, virtually.

Not familiar with the virtual queue system at the Disney Parks? Have no fear, we’re sharing everything you need to know to navigate the race weekend shopping experience.

Joining the Virtual Queue

In order to use the virtual queue on day one of the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo, you’ll need to download either the My Disney Experience app for Walt Disney World Resort events or the Disneyland app for Disneyland Resort events and ensure location services are turned on. From there:

• Step 1

  : Open the app and navigate to the Virtual Queues section on the Welcome Screen. On the first day of the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo, Guests can request to join the virtual queue:

  • 8:30 a.m. ET for Walt Disney World Resort events.
  • 7 a.m. PT for Disneyland Resort events.
  • Note: While the virtual queue will open at the above times, additional availability may open throughout the day.

• Step 2

  : Once in this section:

  • For Walt Disney World Resort events: Visit the tab labeled ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Select the runDisney Merchandise Shop and tap “Join Virtual Queue.”
  • For Disneyland Resort events: Visit the tab labeled Special Events. Select the runDisney Merchandise Shop and tap “Join Virtual Queue.”

• Step 3 : Select the number of Guests, up to six people total, in your shopping party. Tap “Join Virtual Queue” once more.

  • Note: For Walt Disney World Resort events, all members of your shopping party must be added to your My Disney Experience Friends & Family list prior to joining the virtual queue. Learn more about adding Friends & Family to your account here.

• Step 4 : If spots remain in the virtual queue, you’ll see a confirmation screen with an estimated wait time. Note your estimated wait time will be based on the expo's local opening time, so don’t be alarmed if your wait appears long!

• Step 5 : You’ll receive a push notification directly to your mobile device when your group is ready to return. Once received, you’ll have one hour to arrive to the runDisney Merchandise Shop after you’ve been notified.

  • Note: Please ensure you have notifications enabled on your mobile device.

• Step 6 : Once you arrive, follow the signs to the check-in area and prepare to show the Cast Member the QR code you received along with your confirmation.

A few additional things to note:

• Gold and Platinum Club runDisney Members do not need to join the virtual queue to access their early shopping windows during the first day of the Expo.

• Guests can join the virtual queue from places like the comfort of their hotel room or home and should plan to arrive onsite when you have approximately 60 minutes remaining on your estimated wait time.

  • Guests of Walt Disney World Resort events will be able to access the virtual queue within approximately 45 miles away from property.
  • Guests of Disneyland Resort events will be able to access the virtual queue up to approximately 90 miles away from Disneyland Resort.

• QR Codes:

  • For Walt Disney World Resort events: Each member of a party enrolled in the virtual queue will receive a dedicated QR code to present for entry.
  • For Disneyland Resort events: One QR code will be sent for the entire party enrolled in the virtual queue.

• The virtual queue is required for the runDisney Merchandise Shop on the first day of the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo each race weekend and implemented as needed on the following expo days.

• Guests may hold boarding groups for both an attraction virtual queue and a virtual queue for other applicable experiences, like runDisney Merchandise Shop.

Joining the virtual queue does not grant any or immediate access to the runDisney Merchandise Shop. Virtual queues are limited in capacity and subject to availability. Merchandise is subject to availability and inventory may sell out
