Have a WILD Virtual Series Celebration During Your Next Walt Disney World Vacation!

It was a roaring good time this summer as runDisney runners took to their very own savannas for three wild virtual 5Ks during the 2021 runDisney Virtual Series. This year’s event honored the timeless majesty of Disney “The Lion King” by highlighting three unique storytelling versions. As participants begin to receive their finisher medal boxes, we’ve rounded up some WILD ways to celebrate accomplishments during your next Walt Disney World Resort stay.

What a better way to celebrate finishing your summertime 5Ks than with a Disney Resort hotel that is fit for a (Lion) King? From storybook landscapes and delightfully themed family suites to stepping into the heart of Africa with views of lush savannas, you can be immersed in the inspiration and storytelling of Disney “The Lion King.”

Surrounded in artistry, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort offers family suites themed to the animated telling of Disney “The Lion King” featuring detailed courtyards with larger than life character figures, perfect for snapping a medal photo! For a more a immersive stay, head over to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and step into the heart of Africa with views of four lush savannas, home to many of the animals featured in the films.

Keep the celebration fun going when you head to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park*! Make your way to see ‘A Celebration of the Lion King’ for a delightful Broadway-style show that celebrates the music from the classic movie, Disney “The Lion King.” Next, set off in an open-air vehicle for a guided tour of an African savanna on Kilimanjaro Safaris for a chance to spot a real lion, along with a variety of other animals. If you are visiting Walt Disney World Resort after October 1 for The World’s Most Magical Celebration, be sure to snap a selfie with Simba as part of the Disney Fab 50 sculptures at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park!

Feeling a little hungry? For food fit for a (lion) king, visit Tusker House Restaurant for breakfast and try their Simba waffles. For those with a sweet tooth, head to Tamu Tamu for a Simba Sunset, Pineapple Dole Whip topped with red syrup made up of watermelon and coconut. Don’t forget to stop by the Harambe Market afterwards and pick-up a Simba cupcake for another sweet way to celebrate.
