Celebrated Charity Spotlight: Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida

Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida is the Celebrated Charity of the 2022 runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend

Here at Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida, we are excited to once again partner with run Disney, this time for the Springtime Surprise Race Weekend! Thanks to run Disney, and everyone who volunteers and participates, we are able to carry out our mission to grant life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Just like running, a wish can have a powerful impact on a child’s mental and physical health. In fact, 89% of doctors, nurses, and medical professionals surveyed believe that a wish has a positive impact of the physical health of the wish child. A wish is a powerful thing when it comes to providing a child with hope, strength, and joy in the years to come.

Meet wish kid, Kamila, whose wish was to have a dolphin encounter experience! When describing her daughters wish, Wish Mom Jamaris said, “There are no words to describe her smile, she was amazed. The whole wish was centered on her, but in a way that we, as a family, were able to enjoy the whole experience. Make-A-Wish took care of everything, and I did not worry about anything during the wish but to enjoy this experience with my daughters. It was amazing!” From dolphin encounters and Disney Cruise sailings to room makeovers and seeing snow for the first time, the possibilities of a wish are as limitless as a child’s imagination. While the wishes vary by wish kid, one thing always remains the same. A wish has a lasting impact on not only the wish kid but their entire family as well.
