From the Half Marathon and Mickey's Jingle Jungle 5K to the runDisney Kids Races, there's something special for runners of all ages plus plenty of on course Disney entertainment. And for the perfect nightcap to an amazing nighttime run, top off the evening with an exclusive Finish Line Party at the Epcot® International Food & Wine Festival.
The designated charity for our volunteers at the 2015 Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend is Homes for our Troops. Their mission is to build specially adapted homes for severely injured Veterans across the nation to enable them to rebuild their lives. Homes for Our Troops is a privately funded national non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization committed to helping those who have selflessly given to our country and have returned home with serious injuries since September 11, 2001. We assist severely injured Veterans and their families by raising awareness, community involvement, money, building materials and professional labor, and by coordinating the process to build a specially adapted home. Our homes provide the Veterans security, maximum freedom of movement and the ability to live more independently. These homes are provided at NO COST to the Veterans we serve, removing the long-term financial burden of a mortgage, and enabling them to focus on their family, recovery, and rebuilding their lives. Medical Volunteer Needs
Florida Hospital Celebration Health will be providing complete medical coverage for the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend. We invite you to be a part of the elite medical team that will provide race support for 10,000+ runners. We need volunteers that are state certified/licensed MDs, DOs, PAs, DPMs, ARNPs, RNs, ATCs, PTs, PMs and EMTs to volunteer their time. As this is a night race, members of the Medical Team must be willing and able to work from as early as 7:30 p.m. until as late as 4:00 a.m. To request an application or for more information, please call our Medical Volunteer Hotline at 407-303-4053.
The Sports Enthusiast Program does have minimum age requirements to participate as a volunteer. Volunteers for all events must be at least 14 years of age. Volunteers under 18 years of age must have parental/legal guardian consent and must present a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian. Volunteers under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Remember that children under the minimum age are not allowed to volunteer or accompany you. You will be told on the event day that your services cannot be utilized if you have children with you. This is for the safety of your child and everyone else involved.
Volunteer Registration will open on August 18, 2015 at 12 noon EST
Note that there are separate waivers for adults and minors. Anyone age 18 or older must complete an adult waiver. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian complete a waiver for a minor. Volunteer Dress Code
All Sports Enthusiast Volunteers are expected to wear clothing appropriate to the family friendly Disney style, providing for appropriate covering of body parts and no offensive graphics. For scheduled shifts which take place during the Expo, Kids Races, or 5K event, please wear comfortable, neutral colored, appropriate length shorts or pants (khakis preferred, no jeans please) and comfortable closed toe shoes. For scheduled shifts which take place at the Half Marathon race, please wear comfortable closed toe shoes.
In an effort to provide athletes, spectators, volunteers, and staff with the safest environment, listed below are security guidelines. Thank you for taking time to review and understand all initiatives. Additional guidelines may be instituted at any time and your flexibility is appreciated.
- All volunteers will be required to present photo identification upon checking in for their shifts in order to volunteer.
- Volunteers must wear the proper credentials and have his/her photo identification available at all times.
- All bags, parcels, and carry packs are subject to search.
- Please keep personal items to a minimum and leave valuables at home. Facilities are not available to store personal items.
- All necessary personal items must be carried in a clear bag. You may not place a non-clear bag, parcel or carry pack inside a clear bag.
- All volunteers must go through the bag check route, with or without bags.
- NO FOLDING CHAIRS. Volunteers are not allowed to bring folding chairs with them.
Sports Enthusiast shifts will be scheduled on a first come, first serve basis. Schedules are always subject to change due to event needs. Although every effort will be made to accommodate your selection, the scheduling office reserves the right to schedule volunteers based on event needs, which includes placing volunteers on a waiting list. You will receive a confirmed volunteer schedule closer to the event.
Sports Enthusiasts will receive confirmation of the shifts for which they have been scheduled. Confirmations will be mailed approximately 30 days prior to the event or emailed after that time. Confirmation will include further information on parking, directions, and other useful information.
Credential Pick Up
Sports Enthusiast who are scheduled at the Half Marathon event MUST pick up their Volunteer Credentials at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex on one of the scheduled days listed below or at the Disney Sports Building, 3281 Sherberth Rd, Kissimmee, during the Early Bird Pick Up dates. All volunteers must sign a waiver to obtain your credentials and participate. If you are picking up a credential for another volunteer, please print the waiver and have it signed in advance by the participant. Volunteers under 18 years of age must have a waiver signed by a parent/legal guardian.

runDisney Health & Fitness Expo, runDisney Kids Races, Appreciation
As a Homes for our Troops volunteer at the 2015 runDisney Health & Fitness Expo and/or runDisney Kids Races you will receive one commemorative piece of apparel for the event (apparel sizes are not guaranteed), and one snack per shift (snacks are typically provided at the start of your shift. If you have special dietary needs, please plan accordingly). Volunteer for any of the events included in the Annual Sports Enthusiasts Calendar and you will receive one point for each hour of service completed. For every sixteen (16) points accumulated, you will receive a complimentary Walt Disney World® One Day One Park theme park ticket which entitles you to one visit to one (1) day of admission to your choice of the following theme parks: Magic Kingdom® Park, Epcot®, Disney's Hollywood Studios® or Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park. Theme park tickets will be distributed by mail within sixty days upon earning of every sixteen points.**
Mickey's Jingle Jungle 5K and the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Appreciation
As a Homes for our Troops volunteer at the 2015 Mickey's Jingle Jungle 5K and the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon, you will receive one commemorative piece of apparel for the event (apparel sizes are not guaranteed), and one snack per shift (snacks are typically provided at the start of your shift. If you have special dietary needs, please plan accordingly.) Upon the completion of your shift, you will receive a WALT DISNEY WORLD® Resort 1 Day (1 Theme Park) ticket that entitles you to one (1) day of admission to your choice of one of the following theme parks: Magic Kingdom® Park, Epcot®, Disney’s Hollywood Studios®, or Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park. Homes for our Troops volunteers that assist at Mickey's Jingle Jungle 5K, will receive their ticket by mail within sixty days.**
